Chennai, 23 Oct 2026: Sigma Advanced Systems Limited , a global aerospace and defence engineering and manufacturing company, today announced that it has secured an order valued at US$19.70 million (approximately ₹174 crore) from a North American custo mer serving the NATO defence eco system for the manu facture and supply of specialised ancillary subsystems for 155 mm artillery ammunition.
The order is scheduled to be executed by Q2 2027, with manufacturing to be undertaken within the Sigma ecosystem. The order marks Sigma’s fifth 155 mm engagement since May 2026, reflecting the steady expansion of its capabilities across the artillery ammunition value chain. With shell bodies, filled fuzes, advanced base-bleed shell technology, course-correction fuze collaboration and now ancillary subsystems within its portfolio, Sigma is progressing beyond individual ammunition compo nent supply towards a broader manufacturing and engineering partnership across multiple elements of the artillery round.
The Russia – Ukraine war has under scored the scale of artillery ammunition demand in high-intensity conflicts. NATO members and allied governments are responding through inventory replenishment, longer-term procurement and increased manufacturing capacity. The European Union’s Act in Support of Ammunition Production (ASAP), launched in 2024 with €500 million in funding, is one such initiative aimed at addressing production bottlenecks. This shift creates opportunities for manufacturers capable of supporting multiple elements of the ammunition supply chain.
