Chennai, 23 Oct 2026: The Tamil Nadu government has invited tenders to prepare a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for a proposed 4-km eleva ted road connecting the Lighthouse in Chennai with the Thiru Vi. Ka. Bridge in Adyar.
The preliminary process for the project has begun, with the Chennai City Roads Division of the Highways Department inviting tenders to prepare the DPR.
The estimated cost of preparing the report is Rs 38.10 lakh, and a period of 60 days has been stipulated for completing the work. Interested contractors are required to pay an earnest money deposit of Rs 29,500, while no tender fee will be charged. The proposed elevated road is expected to help ease traffic congestion along the Marina Beach Road, one of Chennai's key coastal arterial routes.
Further decisions on the project will depend on the findings and recommendations of the Detailed Project Report.
