Chennai: Samsung Research Institute-Noida (SRI-N) is strengthening health and wellness capabilities across the Galaxy Watch9 and Galaxy Watch Ultra2, combining India-specific software development, local user testing and connected digital health services.Established in 2007, SRI-N collaborates with Samsung’s global R&D network to develop software for Galaxy devices and wearables. Its contributions include Vital Tracker, Daily Cardio Load, Hearing Health and Trail Running, delivering personalised insights into users’ health, fitness, sleep and recovery.The institute also validates wearable software under Indian conditions. During testing, engineers refined auto-cycle detection after identifying false readings caused by auto-rickshaws travelling on bumpy roads, demonstrating how local insights can improve Samsung’s global products.Beyond wearables, SRI-N has developed India-specific Samsung Health services, including an Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM)-compliant health record with Eka Care, medication tracking with Tata 1mg, and Find Care services with Tata 1mg and PharmEasy.These integrations enable users to access consultations, prescriptions, medicine orders and lab-test bookings. With user consent, health records can be shared with ABDM-compliant providers, supporting greater control over digital health information.Samsung said its India-based R&D efforts combine global product innovation with local expertise to deliver personalised health insights and support preventive wellness.
