Chennai, 18 Oct 2026: 15 zones for close monitoring during the northeast monsoon, with all precautionary mea sures in place to tackle heavy rainfall , Revenue Minister K. A. Sengottaiyan said today. Speaking to reporters after inaugu r ating a Primary Agricultural Coopera tive Credit Society building at Kettichevi yur near Gobichetti palayam in Erode district, the Minister said the government had been reviewing monsoon preparedness for the past three weeks. He said officials were closely monitor ing all 15 zones in Chennai to ensure unin terrupted electricity supply, transport services and road connectivity during the monsoon. “All precautionary arrangements are in place. Irrespective of the intensity of rainfall, priority will be given to maintaining essential services, including electricity, transport and road connectivity,” he said. Responding to a question about a pos sible Cabinet reshuffle, Sengottaiyan said there had been no discus sions or indica tions regarding such a move.
