“The Character I Played in ‘Haiku’ Stayed with Me Even After I Completed Dubbing” – Actress Sridevi

Chennai, 25 Oct 2026: Some characters are not easily left behind when the camera stops rolling. They linger in an actor’s thoughts, find their way into everyday moments and continue to stir emotions long after the performance is complete. For actress Sridevi, Haiku has been one such experience. Following her memorable Telugu debut in Court: State Vs Nobody, where her understated performance won her appre ciation beyond the Telugu-speaking audience, the actress has now made her entry into Tamil cinema with recently released Haiku, which is successfully running in theatres.

Sharing her happiness over the response, Sridevi says, “When I began working on Haiku, I had a strong feeling that audiences would connect with my character. But seeing that expectation turn into such an encourag ing response from the early previews, especially from members of the press and media, is an incredibly special feeling. It makes me feel blessed and grateful. As an actor, you always hope that the emotions you experience while performing will reach people on the other side of the screen. To see that connection beginning to happen even before the film’s release means a lot to me.”

Speaking about the emotional hold her character had on her, she adds, “When Yuvaraj narrated the script, I could sense that my character carried so many layers of emotion. There were days when I would return home after the shoot, but a part of me would still be living in that character. Even after I completed dubbing, I found it difficult to let go. It was as though the character had left a little of herself within me, and I was still carrying those emotions. That is something I will always cherish about Haiku. I am deeply thankful to my producers and director for trusting me with this opportunity, and to my co-star Aegan for being part of this wonderful experience. Some roles end when the work is done, but a few stay with you in ways words can hardly explain. This character will always be one of those roles for me.”

Written and directed by Yuvaraj Chinnaswamy, Haiku stars Aegan, Sridevi and Femina George in the lead roles, alongside Adirchi Arun, Subramaniya Sethu, Adhiyaman, Mime Gopi and Indhumathi Manigandan, among others. Produced by Dr. D. Arulanandhu and Mathewo Arulanandhu under the Vision Cinema House banner, the film features music by Siddhu Kumar, cinematography by Priyesh Gurusamy, editing by Sakthi Praneesh P and additional screenplay by Hariharan Ram. B. Sakthivelan of Sakthi Film Factory is releasing the film in Tamil Nadu.

As Haiku prepares to reach theatres, Sridevi’s journey with the film reflects the intimate connection that can develop between an actor and a character. For her, the experience has extended well beyond the shooting floor and the dubbing studio, leav ing behind emotions that have proved difficult to put away. With audiences now set to discover her performance on the big screen, the actress looks forward to sharing a role that has clearly left a lasting impression on her. Haiku released world wide recently is winning appreciations from the audiences now.
