Chennai: With the festive season approaching, Amazon India today announced that its seller base has crossed the 20-lakh milestone, with more than 3 lakh new sellers joining the marketplace, marking its strongest year-on-year growth in seller numbers. The seller community includes businesses ranging from first-generation entrepreneurs in Tier 3 towns to established brands managing thousands of products.
In Tamil Nadu, Amazon has more than 1.2 lakh sellers and over 35,000 local shops selling on Amazon.in. The company is focusing on making selling simpler through lower fees, AI-powered tools, advertising solutions and investments in fulfilment and delivery infrastructure.
Earlier this year, Amazon introduced zero referral fees across more than 12.5 crore products, helping reduce selling costs for entrepreneurs. Its Seller Assistant, an AI-powered conversational tool available 24×7 in English and Hinglish, supports sellers with listing creation, inventory planning, fee estimates and business insights.
More than 2 lakh sellers use Amazon’s AI-powered listing tools, while over 28,000 sellers use Product Opportunity Explorer to identify potential product opportunities. Over 69,000 sellers used Sale Event Planner this year, with sellers following its AI-driven inventory recommendations experiencing 35% fewer stockouts.
Ahead of the festive season, Amazon is conducting more than 20 Seller Connects and Ads Hive workshops across cities to help sellers strengthen catalogue management, inventory planning, fulfilment and advertising.
Amazon India has also created more than 1.6 lakh seasonal work opportunities across its operations network in 400 cities. The company said it remains on track to bring advanced technology capabilities to 15 million businesses by 2030.
