53 teams, 750+ government school students, and a week of competition culminate in a celebration of grassroots football, confidence and community
Chennai, September 12, 2026: The sixth season of LatentView Analytics’ Chennai
Kaalpandhu League (CKL) came to a spirited close today at Pavendar Bharathidasan Play
Field, Shenoy Nagar, bringing together more than 750 young footballers from 34
government schools across Chennai. The week-long Under-13 tournament saw 53 teams
compete across the boys’ and girls’ categories, culminating in an exciting finals day.
The celebrations were joined by Aditi Chauhan, former Indian footballer, and H Edwin
Sydney Vanspaul, ISL footballer, who cheered the young players and witnessed the
culmination of Season 6.
Season 6 Winners:
Boys: Govt Higher Secondary School, Manali scored 3 goals
Runners-up: Chennai Middle School, Milk Colony scored 1 goal
Girls: Govt Model Higher secondary school Arumbakkam scored 1 goal
Runners-up: Chennai Higher Secondary School, Washermanpet
At the finals, for Pramad Jandhyala, Co-founder, LatentView, the significance of CKL lies in
creating an environment that expands the worldview of children, “We are excited to see
another set of promising players emerge in this year’s CKL. To take their journey to the next
level, Chennaiyin FC coaches will train a selected group of students for the next two years as
part of our Regional Development Centre. This is our bit in bridging the gap between
grassroots passion and professional pathways and building an ecosystem that empowers
young students to think big on and off the field.”
Adding to the excitement of the finals, Aditi Chauhan said, “It’s fantastic to see the energy
and excitement among the children here today. CKL is giving these young players a
wonderful opportunity to play, compete and enjoy the game. What LatentView is doing at
the grassroots level is truly commendable. When children get access to platforms like this, it
can really encourage them to take up sport, build confidence and discover their talent. It’s
been great to be here and witness their enthusiasm for football.”
For LatentView, the excitement around the finals also reflects the journey CKL has built over
the past six seasons. What began as an initiative to give government-school children greater
access to football has grown into a platform that has reached more than 3,000 children,
providing them with structured coaching, league exposure and opportunities to take part in
competitive football at the state and national levels.
As Season 6 draws to a close, CKL remains focused on making the sport more accessible to
children from government schools and creating spaces where they can play, learn, build
confidence and grow together. The final whistle may mark the end of the season, but for
these young footballers, it marks another step in their sporting journey.
