CHENNAI – 6 Nov, 2026 Chennai: Fresh Bus, India's intercity electric bus operator, has introduced its annual Best Captain Award to promote passenger safety, responsible fleet management and professional driving standards. The initiative offers eligible bus captains monetary rewards of up to ₹1 lakh, recognising their commitment to safe and reliable journeys.
The annual award cycle will run from Vijayadashami 2026 to Vijayadashami 2027, covering October 20, 2026, to October 9, 2027. Captains will be assessed through a transparent, 100-point evaluation framework based on documented records and verified safety performance.
The reward structure includes ₹1 lakh for captains scoring 100 points, ₹75,000 for those scoring between 85 and 99, and ₹50,000 for scores between 70 and 84. Every qualifying captain will receive the full reward, with no limit on the number of winners. With over 500 captains, the annual payout could exceed ₹5 crore, depending on the number of eligible recipients. Awardees will also receive certificates and recognition at their respective depots.
