Stella Maris College partners with Saveetha Medical College Hospital to provide a Free Medical Camp for Children


Students of the Public Relations Department in Stella Maris College seeks to empower the underprivileged by offering free health services.

Chennai, 19th October 2019: The students of The Department of Public Relations, Stella Maris College, Chennai organised a Medical Camp for children which was free of cost at Assumption Schools, within the premises of St. Teresa’s Church, Nungambakkam. The Paediatric Department of Saveetha Medical College provided the necessary health services for the camp.

The idea was put forth to provide basic medical care and to impart an understanding of good medical health among the underprivileged children.

“Children are vital to the Nation’s present and its future. This is mounting evidence that health during childhood not only sets the stage for health during adulthood but also creates an important ethical, social, and economic imperative to ensure that all children are as healthy as they can be, irrespective of the social class that they belong to.” said Dr. S. Shrinidhi, Head of the Department of Public Relations, Stella Maris College, Chennai.

The students chose this as an ideal platform to display their skills with regard to creating a more empathetic mindset, which would in-turn help them in becoming responsible PR Professionals. They acknowledge the constant support and encouragement received from Dr. Sr. Rosy Joseph, Principal, Stella Maris College, Chennai and Sr. Susan Matheikal, Secretary, Stella Maris College, Chennai.

The medical camp was inaugurated by Dr. Fr. Charles Kumar, who graced and blessed the occasion with his presence. 360 children benefitted with the Medical Camp, which was led by Dr. Benjamin Sagayaraj (Head of the Paediatric Department) and his team from Saveetha Medical College Hospital.
