120+ students conducted a cleanup drive to remove plastic pollution: felicitated for their active participation

LG Electronics India extended its commitment to the environment by launching a massive CSR programme in association with FORCE, a non-profit organization. Titled ‘LG Eco Agents of Change’, the programme, goes beyond just spreading awareness to empowering students to take action that is aimed at making a real change in the society. LG ECO agent is a CSR programme implemented across 10 cities across India where school students are engaged to create awareness around water conservation; understand importance of clean drinking water, remove single usage plastic from daily lives.

Under this initiative, a special teacher training program was conducted to create awareness on clean drinking water & reduce single usage plastic in daily lives.  Teachers were connected via an e-group on social media. The knowledge was further shared with the students in the form of a self-video explaining the key learning’s from the training. An exhibition was hosted on ‘No Plastic’ in each school for a full day. To provide safe drinking water, LG installed its water purifier in the Government Schools.

Today, 120+ students along with teachers in a day-long activity were felicitated by LG, FORCE & Help Foundation for their active participation. The program was implemented with 4 identified schools located in ‘Children’s Park’ in the city area of Chennai, where students started cleaning drive by removing plastic. The four schools that took part in the activity are CHS Kannammapet, CHS Jafferkhanpet, CPS Ashok Nagar and CHS Rangarajapuram at Children’s Park, Adyar, Chennai today.

Speaking on the occasion, K. Murali- Regional Business Head-Tamilnadu LG Electronics India said, “Upon this occasion, I would like to thank the teachers and students for supporting our initiative and helping making LG Eco Agents of Change a success, especially for removing single use plastic pollution. LG believes in empowering young people to take initiative on their own and through this program, we hope that they gain motivational value in being the drivers of change. In the future, we hope we can enlarge the scope of the initiative by engaging larger communities and schools from all over Tamil Nadu and eventually all over India.”
